Juvarra's project for the façades

Prospective and particular thoughts on the fronts of the palaces of Porta Palazzo and the triumphal arch of the new door (to which Juvarra works until 1735). The total demolition of pre-existing medieval houses allows the creation of large "houses of income", an innovative typology that attracts investments and makes possible the urban refurbishment wished by the Dukes Savoy. Monumentality is sought, in Juvarra's handwritten directions, with the use of large, full-height pilasters, with a frieze where are depicted bull's head (symbol of Turin) and with the strict definition of the fronts.

Details of the facades of the palaces of Porta Palazzo, Filippo Juvarra 1706-1735.
