The modern Via Roma
The renewal of the north section of Via Roma (POI via Roma I) unites with a compromise the style of the porticoes of the historic squares while maintaining in the buildings the new compact single court system. For the stretch towards Porta Nuova the debate was reopened due to the appearance of the main street of the city, which must have the sign of modernity. The new compromise, on the line dictated by Piacentini, maintained the arcaded street but eliminated the arch and organizes the façades according to a thicker score of windows.
In the postcard, among the first colored ones around 1940, the severe and monotonous central perspective is strengthened with the abundance of brightly colored cars.
