Via Roma "Nuova" Torino

In 1937 the plan ended after only two years of work. Sixteen buildings are built in place of the six pre-existing blocks. If the volume of the old buildings was 540,000 cubic meters, that of the new buildings is around 680,000. A total of 6,500 habitable rooms were built, with 700 housing and offices and 250 shops. Via Roma is solemnly inaugurated with a majestic regime parade. Under the road level, a continuous tunnel is planned for the entire length of the road, imagining a future, hypothetical underground. The gallery is now used as a parking lot.
