A few meters away from Piazza della Legna, Piazza Venezia, built in 1897, was the fuel trading hub for almost a century. However, over the years the entire area became rather infamous, so much so that it was given the nickname Siberia, to indicate an area with poor living conditions. So the city council decreed the elimination of the square, in its place were built numerous buildings like the one of the telephones, today Iren headquarters.
