The biggest arcaded square in Europe

With its magnificent dimensions, Piazza Vittorio is the biggest arcaded square in Europe. Thanks to its 40.000 squared metres surface (360 x 111 metres) the square was often the location of big events: royal weddings, Fascist military parades, shows, sport events, fairs, city celebrations, including the fireworks of the celebration of San Giovanni, saint patron of the city, parades and protests. For more than one century and until the 1980s the square was also used for carousels and carnival parades.
