The porches of the rain

The terraces that connect the buildings on the left side of the street are added at the behest of King Vittorio Emanuele I in 1819 to allow a completely covered path. The King is particularly satisfied, because he could walk across the city from the Palace being protected from the rain. Hence the name "porti dla pieuva" (the porches of the rain).  Following the construction of Piazza Vittorio, the walk under the porches will be 1250 meters long.
