Saint Lawrence and the square

The realization of the project of Guarini is one of a series of extraordinary Savoy commissions, which has engaged the best architects of the time to decorate the square with exceptional attractors of attention for over a century: The Shroud, Palazzo Madama and this small church that stands out in the skyline with its unique dome-lantern. For more information about the church see the document Poi: "S.Lorenzo - Torino".

The design of Guarini shows the facade never realized, because over time it has always preferred the homogeneity of the side of the square, on which the church stands, in order to bring out the strict lines of the Royal Palace.
