The Palazzo Paravia was built shortly after the Unification of Italy by the Italian Building Society, mainly to give a place to the ministries and administrative activities of the new Kingdom. Instead it was bought by the famous Turin publisher Paravia, from which it takes its name. It became the headquarters of the publishing house until the transfer in Corso Racconigi, in 1950. Recently the building has undergone important restoration and now houses both homes and offices.
