The Statuto Cinema is known for the tragedy of the fire of 13 February 1983. The cinema, which took its name from the nearby Piazza Statuto, at the time of the fire counted a hundred spectators. The victims were 64: an enormity because, although they tried to escape, they found the exits of security closed, and they did not manage to escape the exhalations of toxic smoke. It is the biggest massacre that took place in Turin after World War II.
