Castello dei Senari: Castelluccio as a military garrison

Considering its position, here there was a castle built to control the streets that connected the Valle del Tronto with that of the Nera and to protect the boundaries and municipal pastures, especially given the expansionist ambitions of the neighboring Marche. In ancient times the Castles stood in strategic points of the territory and served to defend the boundaries of the ancient municipality.

The first written records date back to the 13th century, when at the top of the hill on which today stands Castelluccio there was only a small settlement called Castello De 'Senari (name deriving from the term of Longobard origin "Senàita")
