Two big eyes stare the people who pass by, while the colour red symbolizes the blood of the wounds, physical or otherwise, that women, victims of abuse, undergo every day. And finally the inscription: "Violence is the last refuge of incompetents" quote of the famous Russian writer Isaac Asimov. These are the messages shown on the red bench that, on the morning of November 25, 2015, was inaugurated in a flowerbed of Campus Luigi Einaudi, the day that is celebrated around the world the International Day Against Violence Against Women. The installation of the bench is part of the "Benches Red" project, launched in 2014. Nadia Conticelli, president of District Six and creator of the initiative, explained the choice: "The bench is the 'occupied' place and the fact that it is empty symbolizes the absence of women in society, that without them is a weak society." Mr Emanuele Durante, president of the District Seven, has recalled how the fight against violence against women is an issue to remember all year round, "And not just on 25th november."
