The restructuring of Renzo Piano

In 1983 the Genoese architect Renzo Piano was commissioned to renovate the Lingotto building, a very large industrial area covering 246,000 square meters. Respecting the original structure, his intervention aims to enhance the visual aesthetic identity, but at the same time to contaminate it with the new buildings of the Bolla, the Auditorium, the Pinacoteca and the Hotel. The new intervention was marked by technology, in this regard Renzo Piano to the themes of the work said: "Once completed, the Lingotto will be a real machine, able to interact with the context and connected to all existing communication systems".
