The helical ramp

A massive helical ramp is located to the north of the building and currently allows access to the adjacent shopping arcade. It was built in 1926 to lead the cars to the test track above the roof following a strict functionalist design. In this regard Edoardo Persico, a famous art critic, said: "Two paths ascend to this place of inner concentrations and hold it, invisible, like a spiritual fact. Only the track is free under the sky, before God.The means by which works come there is hidden in the order of the factory as a contained and eternal aspiration. These two helices have a meaning of obedience: to put oneself in them means to understand the secret motive of discipline that unites all the parts of the factory to the highest and the supreme end".
