Engineer Mattè Trucco introduced in Italy the American industrial model of Taylorist mould, through fragmented productive operations. In reality, the first idea was born after some trips that Giovanni Agnelli made in America where he knew more deeply the system and the principles of production of Henry Ford, and that led to the dream of making Turin the new Italian Detroit. A document speaks of the nascent Lingotto as a "new factory, American use", meaning with this a linear and sequential use of processing, following the Tayloristic system in the production process and introducing a new scheme of relationship between workers and workshop.
