Lingotto - il complesso Torino

In 1915, work began on the construction of the new FIAT car factory, which was commissioned by Senator Giovanni Agnelli, on some abandoned land of the noble family (Counts Robilant), in the southern outskirts of the city. It was inaugurated in 1923, although the works ended only between 1929-1930. The first construction was the Sorting Workshop in the southern part of the area then the New Workshops (the main building of five floors), the test track and the helical ramp. Finally the connecting building between the New Workshops and the Marshalling Workshops was built.
