Isolated tower and tombstone

The restored Tower appears to be torn from the walls, following the reckless urban renewal intervention against which D'Andrade fought. He denounced the absence of hygienic or social reasons to demolish an entire hill (that was also pre-Roman burial ground) and the neighborhood built above.

The north Tower base at the height of the foundations. The tombstones remind of the Galleria delle Grazie massacre, which took place in 1943 in the subsoil of this street and during which more than 500 peope died, crushed by the panicking crowd.
