Carlo Chevallard (Turin, 1913-1974), manager of a medium-small metalworking company, used in war productions during the war.
-13th July 1943 [...] Turin last night suffered a violent raid, carried out, it seems, by American bombers: extremely violent because it is equivalent to at least three or four of the already terrible winter incursions. The show in Turin is the usual nightmare show in the aftermath of the raids: people wandering the streets with loads of household goods, a total lack of trams, fumigating fires on all sides, jets of water in the streets. Several factories are seriously affected: Ceat, Incet, Fiat Grandi Motori, [...]. Very numerous victims because the hilly area and the Po area, which until now had been spared, were hit. Moreover, the alarm was given a few minutes before the arrival of the planes, many people who, through the Valentino and the Isabella bridge, headed towards the hill were victims of the first bombs. The damage to the center is more serious: Palazzo Chiablese, the church of S. Teresa, [...]. The "Gazzetta del Popolo" has not been published; the use of gas is forbidden for fear of explosions [...].
