During the Flavian age, between 70 and 90 AD, in a time of economic prosperity for the city, the theater was completely redone. The auditorium is enlarged with the addition of a more external order, to increase its capacity and a curved façade is made to replace the previous straight one. The porch behind the scene is also adapted to the new dimensions of the building, and a large peristyle is built with a stone colonnade up to the walls.
The cutaway, designed by Francesco Corni, shows the different levels of the theater, with the foundations still visible today in the outer part of the new Manica of the Royal Palace, currently home to the Savoy Gallery.
