The construction of a theater was for the Romans one of the fundamental signs that demonstrated the birth of a new structured city. Very often, as in the case of Turin, they were built only partially in masonry and completed by wooden structures and movable furnishings of which there are no traces left. The first theater was therefore built at the end of the 1st century BC, the day after the foundation of the colony, and is certainly one of the first public building activities put in place.
