The largest cemetery in the city of Turin, situated in the extra-urban area of Regio Parco.
Monumental Cemetery of Turin was originally known as General Cemetery. The beginning of its costruction dates back to 1827 and the inauguration dates back to 5th November 1829. The people involved in the construction of the Turin necropolis were Marquis Carlo Tancredi Falletti of Barolo, who commissioned the project, and the architect Gaetano Lombardi, who carried it out. Its fame lies in the richness of funerary works of art which it contains.
