The recycling of some MTV-82s
Immediately after the Second World War, new trolleybuses were needed in many cities of the USSR and NAMI (the central scientific institute for automotive research and development) prepared a new unified chassis for buses and trolleybuses, copying a product of General Motors. The frames made were much greater than the demand and as there were not enough engines available to complete them all, the surpluses were accumulated in the factory's warehouses. When a chief engineer of the Moscow tram commission, he decided to recycle the frames to make a model of tram. Three MTV-82 cars are kept in museums in almost original condition in Moscow and Odessa. Here, one of the surviving MTV-82s was modified into a "giardiniera" version with part of the sides replaced by a gate and another in a tank-tram.
