In memory of Alexander
The five-domed cathedral is not just a place where Old Believers could take refuge in prayer. Originally, the Ovsyannikov merchants wanted to have it built in memory of their missing son, Alexander. The family spent a fortune to complete the project, involving architects and artists of the highest rank.
