A night forty years long

On the night between 8 and 9 February 1936, the custodian of the Theatre noticed the flashes of a fire that came from inside the building. The Fire Department was immediately alerted: work on the extinguishing continued incessantly and the fire was finally extinguished around four o'clock in the morning. All that remained was smoke and rubble, and it took thirty-seven years to restore the city to its theatre.
