Giannina Fourbier remains widowed and and the foreman of her workplace, Garaud, woo her but he's rejected so he decides to trap the woman on a charge of murder and arson at the factory. Giannina, separated from his children, is sentenced to many years in prison. After years, she is entrusted to a convent as an assistant on household chores. There, she gets a chance to escape: she drugs with sleeping draught the mother superior Suor Vincenza and passes herself off as the nun in order to escape from the convent without hindrance.
