Костел Найсвятішого Серця Ісуса / Chiesa del Sacro Cuore di Gesù Chernivtsi urban hromada

The first Jesuits in the city of Chernivtsi appeared in the 70s of the nineteenth century. The first masses were held in small chapels, but later the number of faithful grew. On the initiative of Father Franciszek Xavier Eberhard, the construction of a new church had begun. The city government had donated a piece of land on which Bukovina soldiers had begun their first exercises.
