At that time, with its 83 meters, it was the second highest spire after the Mole Antonelliana. The elasticity of the structure, allowed not to suffer damage during the whirlwind of May 23, 1953 which instead damaged the Mole and the statue of the angel that dominated it. Today it is the fifth highest summit of the city of Turin: after the Intesa San Paolo skyscraper, the Lingotto skyscraper and the Littoria Tower of Piazza Castello. However, none of these has been allowed to overcome the symbol of the city in the skyline: the Mole Antonelliana maintains its supremacy.
