Regina Margherita Hospital architecture

During the first years, the hospital already had a future, even though funds were lacking. The numerous donations decreased whit time, in the period when the enlargement works started. However, the founder of the hospital did not give up. He knocked on every door to improve the number and quality of care for the most vulnerable children. Afterwards a boarding school was founded in Via Menabrea. The hospital premises were at that point not enough for the needs of that period. The old site was inadequate both for number of hospitalisations and for scientific and educational needs. The new structure was completed in 1961 by the Rossi architects of Milan, creating new specialised pediatric wards.
