In many villages in the Hutsul region, ceramic was the main craft and this is not surprising. The Ivano-Frankivsk region is rich in clay, this is why the development of ceramic processing methods has existed here, since ancient times. The pottery of Kosiv, named after the village where he was born, became the most famous. Decorative ceramics, as we know them today, appeared in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Kosiv tile stoves are widespread not only in the Hutsul region, but also in Romania and Hungary.
