In order to complete the demolition, since there were inevitable traces of heavy metals and hydrocarbons in the ground, it was necessary to proceed with an alternative remediation procedure that would allow avoiding the disposal in landfills (estimated around 25 million euros, against around 3 of the total cost of accommodation implemented). In fact, with very low costs and impacts, an effective solution was obtained: the shredding of the concrete parts led to separate the finest fraction containing heavy metals, which was kept on site, covered with a separation sheet and with one meter of earthy material (the so-called "capping"). Above it was possible to realize the park in complete safety.
