Svityaz Lake

It is the deepest lake in Ukraine with a maximum depth of 54.4 m. and the second largest one with a surface area of 25.2 kilometres. The lake is a part of the Shatsky National Natural Park established in 1983 to preserve this natural complex. In the middle of the lake there is an island of 7 hectares in size. Along with its tourism attraction there are some curious facts about the lake; -Svityaz was chosen as one of the seven natural wonders of Ukraine. -The Ukrainian poetess Lina Kostenko wrote a poem about Lake Svityaz: "I want to go to Lake Svityaz..."
