The square in its current form (1750)

The square predicted by the prince of Carignano and his architect Guarino Guarini was never completed. The current form and dimensions of the square date back to the middle of the 18th century when the different properties are redefined and the architect Benedetto Alfieri designs the new collocation of the building and the theatre on the opposite side of the palace. The volume of the palace and the highest one of the Collegio dei Nobili delimit the south and the east sides of the square.

The plan of Benedetto Alfieri show the front and the theatre area. The letters correspond to the different properties: the L indicate those bought by the prince from the Jesuits; the G parts are properties of the Jesuits
