Of Pianta della Città di Torino 1680, Giovanni Abbiati
The prince of Carignano offers a significant amount (12,000 lire) to purchase a pretty small plot of land, in front of the palace, enclosed between some big religious buildings. However, the square proportions are so precise that one thinks that there are the Guarinis behind! There is a condition of the settlement : the Jesuite church is moved in the middle of the square on axis with the palace in competion with San Lorenzo of the Theatine Guarino Guarini... The Jesuits are forced to accept, even if they know that the balances and the symboles of power are now changing!
