The square for the palace

The square is a part of the 17th century city design (which expanded the Quadrato Romano to the east) and it is aimed at enhancing the particularity of the moving facade of the palace. This is a unicum in the baroque city which normally showed a rigid uniformity of the spaces and the facades as a symbol of the dynasty power. It is the only example of a square created to embrace the front of a noble palace.

Nell'immagine si coglie come il fronte di Palazzo Carignano sia perfettamente inserito nella piazza antistante.
