1870 market

In 1814 a Royal Decree brings together in Piazza della Repubblica almost every city market. It is necessary to wait for a century to see the completion of the pavilions that in the 1900s occupy the four lobes around the cross of the streets. In the meantime, the market is given to precarious but effective structures for businesses (note the pedestrian walkways paved with large plates).

The great square, seen from the North side, is half wooded, but the rails and the semi-fixed structures of the sales stalls dominate the view.
