The drop which was made to overflow the vase
The episode that induced the cottolengo to move from preaching to acting on the ground was the encounter with the dramatic death of a sick and pregnant young woman, called Giovanna Maria Gonnet, who had not been accepted by the city hospitals. It was 1824.
