After the dismantling of the walls of 1800 by Napoleon Bonaparte, the city widens to the north and even in the most unfortunate part, between Dora and Po, the Vanchiglia district begins to develop. During the 1800s the muddy countryside was transformed into a district of workers' houses and factories. The triangular shape of the Borgo, unique in Turin, derives from the initial strategy that wants to define the area of urban expansion through the two roads on board, the courses San Maurizio and Regina Margherita, large avenues within which it is resumed, with some adjustment, the orthogonal frame of the blocks of the previous city.
