Old Michelin factory

The tyre factory was built in 1906, as the Italian branch of the French company Michelin, in the wake of the development of the automobile industry. Its location in the former Via Schina (now Via Livorno) was strategic due to its proximity to the city, the canal and the Valdocco railway. Until the 1950s it remained the most important tyre factory in Italy, remaining in business for 90 years, until its total closure in 1998.
