Paolo Sacchi: the savior of the city

Only the intervention of the head of the workers, Paolo Sacchi, tackled the threat of blowing up the big warehouse, with 40 tons of gunpowder, which could destroy most of the city. Although wounded, he managed to suffocated the fire with wet blankets. The stories say that he used even the cap of Don Bosco as a bucket to extinguish the fire. The priest in fact rushed to the site of the disaster, along with King Victor Emmanuel II and Massimo d'Azeglio, head of the Government.
