The clockwork bomb of the powder keg in Borgo Dora, exploded on April 26, 1852 for a spark that set on fire the laboratory. From here the flames spread to the powder stores. The explosion was heard miles away and destroyed almost completely the factory and many of the surrounding houses of the popular district inhabited by 24 thousand inhabitants. The budget was 26 dead and numerous wounded.
