After the inauguration, the museum underwent some renovations, the most important of which was carried out in 1924 by Ernesto Schiaparelli who wanted to expand the museum (on the occasion of the king's visit) with a new wing for the exhibition of 30,000 artifacts found during the excavations in Egypt (Assiut and Gabelein) with his collegue Giulio Farina.
