The new sleeve

Thank to the Naples’s law of 1885 which allowed to thin out the run-down neighborhoods, the old districts of Swiss between the cathedral and Porta Palazzo were destroyed. After opening the new via XX Semptember, it was necessary to design the new façace on that street, to replace the old Palace Vescovo, which also marked the royal gardens. After many years of arguments, at the end of the century, the Emilio Stramucci project was realised: a long façade, decorated with four pilasters of the Corinthian order that characterized the palace’s centre and the extreme. It is the headquarter of Malta, than of region’s offices and it houses the Sabauda’s gallery and the Archaeological Museum.
